Jason started
skating at the age of 9 years old after he was always taken to the
local Peterbourgh ice rink to watch his older sister skate. Jason
didn't decide to properly take up skating till the family later moved
to Elgin in the north of Scotland.
Jason then continued
to rise through the levels where he eventually passed his first British
Novice tests at the age of 13 and went on to his first British Novice
Championships at Nottingham in 2003 where he picked up a Bronze Medal.
This was then followed up by his First Scottish Championship, Jason
won the Novice event and became Scottish Novice Champion 2003.
In 2004 Jason competed at the British Novice Championships, in Sheffield
where he picked up the Silver Medal. After these Championships Jason
then passed Primary Competitive tests. He took two first places at
Paisley and Ayr Open and then a silver medal at the Scottish Primary
Championships. Since Jason passed his Primary Tests it qualified him
to compete at his first Primary British Championships at the end of
the year where Jason took a bronze medal.
In 2005 Jason then got a silver medal at the British Championships
at Sheffield. In 2006 Jason was suffering from a knee injury which
kept him out for the whole season in which he was hoping to move up
to Junior level . The follow year Jason managed to get into a good
enough condition to skate at competitions where he got a 2nd and 3rd
at Sheffield and Deeside IJS's at Junior level. Unfortunately Jason's
injury was still holding him back from training and this was noticeable
when it came to competitions.
In 2008, Jason's injury was still a major problem and he found himself
pulling out of most IJS events. He competed at the Scottish Championships
where he came 2nd place at senior level and then competed in his first
international event in Austria where he got a personal best and came
3rd place. This was Jason's first international medal.
In 2009, Jason's knee problems didn't seem to be improving so he got
an operation in March and was out of skating for a good two months
and had to build his skating back up. As a result he didn't have enough
pre-season training to be ready to compete.
Since 2010 Jason has moved to Telford with his family and passed his
level 1 coaching test and is hoping to complete his level 2 in the
near future.
