3 courses (details subject to final controlling):
Short Brown 7.4km 320m climb
Green 4.3km 170m climb
Yellow 2km 60m climb

Map Scale 1:5,000. Short Brown A3, Green & Yellow A4

The courses will take in Cluny Hill and Sanquhar Woods – mostly fast runnable woodland (especially while the bracken is down) with some steep slopes, a very good path network and occasional rhododendron thickets (see map sample below). The Short Brown and Green courses require crossing a fairly busy road twice (please take care!) and will offer significant route choice which will include housing estates as well as forest.
The Yellow course is entirely within the Grant Park / Cluny Hill area

All the competition areas are very popular with walkers, mountain bikers etc – please be aware of other users of the woods, roads and parks!

Important Map Notes

Areas mapped in olive green are private and access is forbidden.

There are also a number of areas marked as Out of Bounds with purple hatching, and fences marked as uncrossable with a solid purple overprint line as per the map extract to the left. (These fences may be physically crossable, but that’s irrelevant).

You may only enter and leave the field shown using the marked crossing points.

Dogs welcome. Please note that junior football takes place in Grant Park in the afternoon.
Dogs must NOT be allowed on the football pitches.

This is part of a weekend of orienteering, with a BASOC event on Speyside at Kincraig (Sat pm).
